Raised in Los Osos, California, Dr. Smart graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in Biology before completing her doctorate of Optometry at the University of California at Berkeley. Her education included internships at Portland and Palo Alto VA hospitals where she specifically studied eye disease and geriatric eye care.
On the Central Coast, Dr. Smart practices primary eye care and medical eye care and is trained and licensed to treat glaucoma. She speaks French and clinical Spanish and believes in building lasting relationships with her patients. She is an active member of the California Optometric Association and a past president of the Tri-County Optometric Society; and enjoys serving the local community by volunteering at the San Luis Obispo Noor Clinic every month.
